Are you interested in an exciting career in public safety as a career Firefighter/ EMT? The City of Mills Fire Department is building an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/EMT with one current opening to fill. Candidates are required to complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) and Mills Fire Department application to complete the application process.

Mills Fire Department will be conducting entry level testing through the National Testing Network. The application period will be open from now through May 31, 2024 at 5PM MDT. A list of successful candidates, posted on the Mills FD page, will be established and will remain active for a 2 year period. The list will be active from June 15, 2024 through June 15, 2026, or when the list is exhausted.  Applicants are asked to fill out the Mills Fire Department application completely and download it to their profile on the National Testing Network. Additional documents should also be downloaded to the candidates profile on the National Testing Network.  

Starting Salary for oncoming probationary Firefighter/ EMT is $46,558.94. Full time employment includes paid health insurance, dental insurance, vision, Firefighter plan B retirement, and life insurance. Paid leave, incentive pay for Paramedics and intermediates. Requirements for applicants listed below:

Age: Minimum age of 18 years old at time of hire.
Education: High school Diploma or GED
EMT: Must have a current Wyoming EMT-Basic, AEMT, Intermediate, or paramedic license OR current National Registry EMT-B or higher. Preference points will be given for ALS level of certification.
Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen (If Naturalized, proof must be furnished at time of application).

Hiring Process : Testing is being conducted to establish a hiring list for career positions. Successful candidates will be scheduled for an oral interview during the second week of June 2024, via in-person or Zoom. If offered the position, candidates will have to pass a background check, drug test, and complete a medical exam and physical agility assessment within the allotted time during their probationary period (candidates with a CPAT card valid within a year of offer date will forego physical agility assessment).
